Our hosts were wonderfully generous with their expertise and went above and beyond to have all five of us fully participate and enjoy the class. I learned a lot and had fun too ! Thank you
Such a fun experience with great hosts! I'm a vegetarian and loved having the option to explore japanese cuisine
Such a great experience! An amazing group of cooks from all over the world traveled to meet in this one moment in time to cook traditional Japanese food together. So fun!!! This husband and wife duo love what they do and it shows extremely informative and they made the culinary experience exciting, educational and most importantly… delicious!!!
This was so such a nice experience. We had a lot of fun.
A great experience
Very informative, fun and delicious class. The husband and wife team were passionate about Cooking and made it all very delightful.
Easy but super tasteful class! Great hosts
We had a great experience, would highly recommend and delicious food. Can't wait to make the delicious gyozas when I get back home 😁
The chef and his wife run a cooking school. It was as if we were brought into their home. They taught us how to make a Japanese omelet and Nigiri sushi. We watched the chef present the tuna and we were taught how to slice it. Everything in the instruction and the fish was excellent. So much fun!
The cooking class was fun! The gyozas and ramen were delicious. All in all, a nice experience!
The "artisanal" part consists of making the gyoza treat, which was fun and explained very nicely. It is explained how dashi and chicken broth are prepared, with the master lending a hand alone. Any questions will be answered and specialist knowledge of Japanese cooking will be imparted. There would have been 5 stars if you could also make the noodles yourself. But there wouldn't be enough time for that. You even get the recipes. Gladly again.
The great journey of Japanese cuisine classes. It was a great experience to learn and spend time with the master. It's not just about Japanese cuisine. The master taught us the way of life from past to present. From the geographic to demographic and the history of cuisine. This is a beautiful journey. Master Masa and Master Junko are the best sensei. We had a great time.
We had great time with Masa and Junko, informative and fun class, and at very end we made gyozas (made them at home couple of times, but this time we made them properly), and assembled our Sho Yu ramen. I would recommend this class to any foodie or cooking enthusiasts.
Masa and Junko are so lovely that you can’t help but feel relaxed and be in the moment. The ramen is so tasty with such a high-quality broth in 90 minutes instead of hours like from the restaurants. The gyoza wrapping is surprisingly easy but to make it as nice as Masa is not a day 1 job. 😅
Really professional and nice cooking class :) Learned a lot about preparing Ramen and Gyoza :-)
We enjoyed the class a lot. Everything was so clear and the result was very tasty.
Wonderful Class with great helpful hosts, Masa and Junko! Had a great time in a relaxed setting, and the food was good and great to see made in person (of course we got to make it as well). This might be the start of my adventures booking with "Cookly" around the world.
Very nice setup for the cooking class. As a family of seven, we had to share some of the cooking as they did not have enough burners on our table but we all took turns and managed. The gyoza was delicious and the ramen was tasty as well. Good quantities of food and good quality ingredients. Would recommend!
Asakusa is one of our favourite places and I definitely recommend this place. It was one of the highlights of our visit to Tokyo. I always had great joy making Ramen and after this experience. If I want Gyoza, I will always make it from scratch 😁👍
My family and I did a sushi-making class and thoroughly loved our experience. The entire night was engaging, starting with learning about the history of the food and its significance in Japanese culture, to getting hands-on instruction for folding the fish in the nigiri, and enjoying sake and beer. Masa and Junko were also so sweet and kind, offering one-on-one help to each person and teaching us complicated skills like using the tuna knife. This was definitely a 10/10 experience and I would highly recommend it!
The cook was very nice and gave us information also about the history of the food we were going to cook
Our sushi making class was one of the highlights of our trip. They were so nice and accommodating and our sushi was delicious!
The class was very enjoyable for me and my family. We had requested for a “no meat and no seafood version” and everything was perfectly tweaked to our dietary preferences. We learnt all the skills for making a proper okonomiyaki and sat down and enjoyed the meal at the end of the lesson. Must do for anyone that’s on the lookout for authentic Japanese cooking lessons!
We did the nigiri sushi making class with 3 of our adult children and it was an excellent experience! Masa and Junko gave you the true feeling of Japanese culture. It felt like we were welcomed into their culture and they made us feel at home. Top quality ingredients and showed us a lot of knowledge and techniques for making sushi at home. Highly recommend this experience; was one of our favorite highlights of Tokyo. Domo arigato Masa and Junko!
The class was very fun. We made the okonomiyaki. Lots of explanation during the cook and where needed assistance with the cooking. If you are in tokyo you should give it a try!
Masa and Junko’s sushi making class was a highlight of our visit to Tokyo! They are lovely people to spend an afternoon with and great instructors. Their school is spacious and charming and the sushi and Japanese omlettes we made were delicious.
The morning started with a guided tour of the bustling fish market, where we got to see and learn about various types of fresh seafood. The atmosphere was lively, and interacting with the local vendors was a highlight. After exploring the market, we headed to the cooking class location, which was conveniently located near a metro station. The class began with a detailed introduction to sushi-making, including the history and techniques behind Nigiri sushi. The instructor was knowledgeable and patient, guiding us through each step of preparing and assembling our own sushi. At the end of the class, we enjoyed the sushi we had made ourselves, and it was absolutely delicious! Overall, this experience exceeded my expectations, and I left feeling inspired to try making sushi at home. I highly recommend this tour and class for anyone interested in Japanese cuisine and culture.
We liked the cooking class so much, nice and friedly host, a lot of information, everything was well preparen - highly recommended.
Grateful for this opportunity and best way to learn the Japanese culture by cooking with the guidance of Japanese instructors whom can communicate in English. It was great immersion for my son whom wanted to understand more about Japan in an up close personal way , what better way than through the stomach 😉. The kids love the experience as they transit from usual theme parks visits to cooking classes.
Due to some late cancellations I ended up with a personalised class. Masa and Junko were very personable and professional and they didn’t make me feel that I was a burden to them when it was just me there. The location was easy to find. The cooking steps were easy to follow and best of all the end result was a great meal to enjoy. Had a great time.
Located in a cute shop just outside Asakusa station, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience and better hosts. We had a large group of 9 including one in a wheelchair. They were quick to accommodate, and managed to teach all of us how to make traditional Tokyo style ramen and gyoza. The food was amazing, and the hosts were warm and personable. Even if you’re short on time in Tokyo, this is 3 hours well spent. 10/10 recommend.
We had such a fun time with Masa and Junko! Such an amazing hosts who were so kind and friendly. Masa also gave us some local recommendations which was super helpful. We really enjoyed our class and the food was so delicious. 10/10 would recommend and we will be back next time we visit Tokyo!!
Truly enjoyed the class. Learned a ton of cooking skills and will definitely be making this again. Would highly recommend!
An awesome overall experience! Will be coming back for more classes!
The art of making nigiri was explained starting from scratch. Every step was well explained so that in the end the surprisingly complex procedure resulted in a delicious meal.
You will learn from scratch how to make Ramen. Worth it!
Not only did I learn how to make ramen, I learned a new technique for frying dumplings. A very enjoyable class.
First time doing a cooking class and definitely keen to do another in the future after this experience. Masa and his partner were lovely hosts, they made it really enjoyable and informative throughout. Would definitely recommend to anyone who loves Japanese food and wants to understand how to make delicious ramen as gyoza!
I learnt a lot about ramen and the different element of the flavors and ingredients!
Listening and practice with Massa and Junca was so beautiful, beautiful place, beautiful people, i recommand definitly
Très accueillants et très pédagogues
Loved our cooking class, gorgeous school, delicious food and great teacher. Would highly recommend !!!
Masa Hiro was a great host and speaks excellent English so everything was very well understood. The Okonomaki was wonderful.
It was a lovely afternoon with Mass san and his wife. All natural Japanese ingredients and hints and tips as to where to find them. Very friendly experience. I would definitely recommend and would definitely go again.
I booked us into this class as a Christmas present. It fell roughly halfway through our 20-odd days in Japan, long enough for us to have tried various types of ramen and gyoza already and be primed to learn how to make them. The location was easy to find from the Asakusa station (a ten min walk through the market streets around the Senso-ji temple). The class itself was an excellent mix of watching the tutor prepare parts of the meal or show us what he prepared the night before (fish broth cannot be rushed!), along with getting to do the important bits (mixing, shaping, and cooking gyoza; constructing the ramen bowl) hands-on ourselves. Putting in some practice runs of flipping the gyoza fry pan before we put any gyoza in the pan was very valuable! We left warm, full, and very happy.
Very informative. Lots of background on ingredients. Lots of fun.
We had a great time during the first day of the year and really enjoyed the experience, we’ve learned new techniques, experienced with new cooking tools and got to know new Japanese flavors. The vegan menu was really interesting (even for the non-vegan among us) and above all of that the Chef was very pleasant, shared his receipts with us and hosted us just perfect! Thank you
My partner and I attended the class with a couple other groups. It was a great time learning about the food, some of its history and using kitchen tools I’ve only see the chefs use. I look forward to booking further classes on future trips.
A through presentation of all things necessary to make great Ramen. We live in Japan and took our daughter to this class. A great step by step class - Masa and Junko where patient and hospitable. I am planning on going back for more!
We had a wonderful time. The class was very easy to understand and the hosts answered any and every question. I would absolutely go back again.
Masa and Junko are so much fun and taught us how to make delicious Ramen and Gyoza
The class was well organized and the food was tasty -- I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It's a nice way to do more as a tourist than just watch and admire. After returning home, I cooked the recipes from the class. Two observations: first, I was able to cook the recipes at home from what I learned in class, and everything turned out well; second....it took several hours and every dish in my kitchen was dirty by the end. It made me appreciate the organization of the instructors even more.
It was a very fun educational class, with a great and dedicated teacher. The location was very nice and authentic, we learned about how to make the sushi and the technics, but also about the history behind. After class we got to eat what we made, and learned about the Japanese way of starting a meal “Itadakimasu”. It was a really nice day, in a very nice environment, where you felt very much welcome. I give Chagohan Tokyo my best recommendation.
great hosts, beautiful space and really well-organized. got great information on japanese culture/history and trip recommendations as well! thank you
Had a lovely morning learning to cook delicious gyoza and ramen with great teachers. Relaxed but detailed with food history and culture thrown in. All done in great English with smiles. 10/10, would go again!!
Really enjoyed the class. Brilliant teachers and take home recipes!
The printed recipe along with details of the exact ingredients, should make it easy to duplicate the recipe when I get back home.
Very casual but covered everything we needed to do. The host was fantastic and explained every step.
I have never made Sushi before but the class showed how easy it is. They took you through every step carefully ensuring that you not only understood it but also had a go at each step. Even when making each sushi course they helped you as needed to ensure that it looked and tasted good! The course states that it is 2 hours long, but they take as long as needed. Ours lasted over 4 very enjoyable hours! The course culminated in enjoying our creations. I would thoroughly recommend this course to any one.
Loved the class and learning the techniques. Looking forward to trying at home. Lots of fun and very delicious dishes.. A great experience.
We enjoyed a lot learning how to cook ramen! Really interesting! A must when you visit Tokyo! Thanks to the teacher for his masterchef cooking class!
We spent a wonderful time cooking and chatting about kitchen and more. The cook was very nice and patience with us. After cooking we had time to enjoy our meal, without pressure.
What a great class. I learned so much about sushi and Japan in general. The staff was absolutely wonderful and such a joy to meet and talk with!
No overseas holiday is complete without trying your hand at learning how to cook some of the local cuisine. This class teaches you how to make the three parts of the ramen broth, and then how to combine them into a delicious ramen. You also learn and make your own gyoza, from the filling to making and folding the dumplings, and finally how to cook and fry them perfectly. Highly recommended.
My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our class with Chagohan. Due to changes in our itinerary in Tokyo we had to change the time of our class several times, but they were very helpful and happy to accommodate our need. We were the only people in our class so we got to have a private session (luck!). The tutors were very friendly and explained the cooking steps very well. We enjoyed the tempura with miso soup at the end of our class and they were delicious! Would definitely come back and try out other classes with them!
Had a wonderful session with Massa as he walked me through both Tempura and sashimi. Lesson and recipe notes were great and the end result was sensational. Would highly recommend Chagohan cooking school
Ken was a great teacher not only with the cooking but culture associated with Ramen and Gyoza. The school is well set up and easy to find. Added bonus was a lesson and tasting session on Japanese Shochu.
We loved this class! We attended on our first day in Japan, and got a great intro to the local food culture, along with many great recommendations for food shopping and restaurants to try. Learning about the many intricacies and small details involved in making ramen was a lot of fun as well. Finally, our hosts were warm and welcoming, and very patient with our clumsy cooking skills. Thank you so much for this lovely experience!
I would highly recommend this class to anyone. I learned so much about preparing authentic Japanese Ramen and Gyoza and where to source the ingredients.
We travel at 1-2 times a year to Japan for 12 years but this was one of the best experiences we have tried. I am so excited to try another class when we return this fall!
Masa and Junko were very welcoming in their beautiful cooking studio located in a central area of Asakusa (next to Senso-Ji temple). Masa is a great cook and a wonderful teacher, who showed us (and helped us with) the finest techniques of sushi making. The result ended with the most amazing Nigiris my husband and I’ve ever had. Truly a fantastic experience for our honeymoon and we will definetly come back for more sushi making!
Our cook Maasa and his wife were really great and we learnt so much about nigiri sushi! We had a lucky private class with a lot of nigiri sushis and different fishes to taste. Also great was the sake tasting and the opportunity to cut the fishes by yourself. We got to know very important things about the ingredients and we even got a shopping list for our next Nigiri Sushi back home. Thank you for all the tips! A further lucky point was the mountain experience from Maasa. He told us many great recommendations for hiking in the northern alps and fujisan! So thank you for all these experiences! We really only recommend a cooking class with this great couple!
Very professional set up and well organised. We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience - and it has given us great ideas regarding Japanese pancakes!! In truth we had only had Hiroshima style previously and enjoyed it so much we wanted to learn how to cook it but this class was Osaka style which was tasty but in our opinion not as delicious as Hiroshima style ( sorry ken) But would highly recommend this very personal cookery school and if I had longer in Tokyo would have liked to do the ramen class.
Me and my 17 year old son came for the tempura class. This was the first time my son really cooked, and Masa was very patient. He taught us valuable and easy techniques that we can replicate at home. We enjoyed the yummy food we cooked afterwards. Thank you so much for this wonderful experience! I plan to come back to Japan and attend another class. I highly recommend this class!
We really enjoyed our cooking class. Very good teacher and fantastic hosts. Would highly recomend!! The Gyoza and ramen were very tasty. We will definitely be trying to make them both again at home in ireland. どうもありがとうございました Shane and Lauren
My daughter and I learned so much about the history of ramen on the island and it was very interesting. Also loved the tips on cooking. Didn’t realize how precise timing is in making ramen.....now we know what really good ramen tastes like. Thank you, Ken (who is very personable) for giving us an excellent cooking class!
This class was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend!
We thoroughly enjoyed our class with Masa-san. His instruction was easy to follow and the end result was delicious. The class was not only instructive but it was a lot of fun. I would definitely recommend this class to anyone wanting to try Japanese cooking for themselves. Susie (Sydney)
Great instructor. He provided clear instructions and demo for each step just before we did it ourselves. Had lots of knowledge, so could answer follow up questions for those of us with a little more cooking experience. I would take another of his classes if I were still in Tokyo.
Absolutely loved this cooking class. Small intimate group of lovely people and our hosts were so knowledgeable and helpful. Learned how to make perfect gyoza and ramen - and then got to sit down and enjoy eating it all together with an ice cold Asahi. Highly recommended for those who want to learn in a fun environment.
Great teachers. Great course they pack a lot in! It’s the real deal ramen and gyozo. Get to eat it too One of the best things I did in japan
A fun and enriching experience for those looking to do something fresh and exciting on their trip to Japan. Ingredients are fresh and varied, and Masa-san (the teacher) and his wife are warm and hospitable from start to finish. You learn a lot during the lesson, and at the end of it get to enjoy an amazing meal prepared by your own two hands. I highly recommend this to everyone.
Having amazing sushi in japan is one thing, but being able to understand just how much effort goes into carefully molding one simple piece changes your entire perspective on the craft. I had an absolutely wonderful time at Chagohan. The inside of the cooking lab was warm and inviting, both the owners were extremely pleasant and friendly to the participants and Masa-san (the teacher) is both knowledgeable on all things Japanese cuisine, as well as patient and precise when it comes to teaching. The ingredients were fresh and varied, and the entire experience is both relaxing and fun. I highly recommend you fit this into your itinerary if you're passionate about food, someone who's looking for a change of pace, or somebody who's just looking to dip their toes into Japan.
One of our favorite experiences in Tokyo.
This was a wonderful activity for my family of four. The hosts were very nice and knowledgable. There was another group of 4 and two groups of 2 in the class but we were set up so that we only cooked within our group. The food is delicious and the directions were printed out for us. pens were also given in case we wanted to take notes. The hosts gladly answered any questions and made sure that we understood the techniques. I would recommend this class to everyone!
Very good teacher and the experience was really enjoyable! Food was good as well, fish was fresh! Really happy that I took the course with my family, will do again in August with a couple of friends.
We would do this over and over again! We had so much fun!! We can’t wait to go home and try to make gyoza again!
A great way to start the day! The school is located in a lovely small building full of character behind a tea and coffee shop. The kitchen area has a really pleasant look and feel with a small garden outside. It probably only fits four students comfortably so your experience is likely to be personalised. The instruction was clear, the timing spot on and the end product delicious! Do it!
You will enjoy the class ..the chief and his wife are so friendly and the smile never leaves their face.
Great class! Ken was an enthusiastic teacher. We learned so much about gyoza and ramen, while feeling confident we could re-make the recipes at home. If you only have a few days in Tokyo I highly recommend this class. Highlight of our trip!
The presentation of the final dish was beautiful and the teacher very patient and kind. He would solve all my doubts and explain every step. Thank you for having me!
We really enjoyed the class. Ken and Junko explained things in the way all 3 generations could understand. Thank you for being so patient and helpful with our daughter, Kristina!!
Very professional
Two of us took the Okonomiyaki class in Kyoto during the early afternoon time slot. Our host/teacher was Natsumi, and she was an excellent instructor. The space itself is inviting and tranquil, don’t be fooled by the drab exteriors of the buildings in the area around it. We would definitely recommend the experience, especially if you want to try an iconic dish in the comfort of a nice space, with the aid of a friendly guide.
Amazing experience. Highly recommended. 5 STARS!!
Next time we visit will try a new lesson.
Exceeded expectations. Highly recommended.
My daughter wants to be a chef and she learned quite a lot in the class. And the sushi we made was fantastic. Great, rich flavor. The teacher gave us expert advice every step of the way. It was a lot of fun even if you are like me and don’t do any real cooking. Highly recommended.
Good explanation, steps, tasty food and overall exactly what we had hoped for. Would highly recommend
The instructor was very informative, speaks good English. The food was delicious.
Great class, a highlight of our trip. They were fun, informative and very nice teachers! The food tasted delicious. Highly recommend them!
Great hosts, entertaining as well as educating and most importantly a delicious meal at the end 😎
We took the class with our 10 year old daughter, and everything was set up so we could work together as a threesome, which worked out beautifully for us. Everything was prepared for us and organized perfectly. The explanations were very clear and easy to follow, and we loved that they shared the great photos with us afterwards. I highly recommend this course!
The class was very fun for adults and kids. Chef was engaging, spoke perfect English and the whole experience was just great!
The class was fun. However, I was missing more history of the japanese cooking. Also I wish we were given more to do by ourselves and less demonstrations.
We were able to learn a lot about traditional Japanese cooking, and how to exactly modulate the amount of every ingredient we put in to end up with the best taste. We were also taught how to cook the Miso pork and how to fry the Gyoza perfectly. Amazing course! would definitely do it again.
This afternoon private session was a wonderful way to spend some quality time with my mom who was visiting. It was well paced, easily understood, yet still taught the two of us seasoned home cooks many new skills! We really enjoyed cooking and eating!
Massa and Yumi are the nicest hosts ever, and their cooking class is nestled right in the heart of Asakusa. The class is 40% listening and 60% cooking which is the right balance for me personally. I really enjoyed learning about each ingredient/process and then trying my hand at prepping my meal. I feel so confident about what I learned that I've tried recreating the meal a couple times at home now! So yummy. For those who'd like to know, you'll be preparing shoyu ramen. If you're looking for that thick, pork bone one (tonkotsu), you might want to ask Massa and Yumi if they offer that class. Solo travelers: come hungry or bring a tupperware! I went alone and got a massive plate of gyoza all to myself. I'd love to take another class with them the next time I'm in Tokyo. The hosts are really friendly, the atmosphere was cozy, and the food was really yummy.
Staff was helpful, knowledgeable and could all speak very good English! My whole family had a lot of fun!
We really enjoyed learning about the varieties of ramen and their regions of origin. The teacher was friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. Would recommend!
One of the best cooking classes I’ve ever done! I had so much fun and the food was absolutely delicious, and I can’t wait to try these dishes at home.
The class was so much fun! We learned so much about Tokyo style ramen and the process of making it perfect. The Gyoza making was also so fun. Massa and his wife are amazing teachers. The food is DELICIOUS!
Clear instructions, well organized and a very lovely meal to eat at the end - we can now make gyoza and ramen at home! Great experience for tourists and expats!
Wonderful experience, great company, and delicious food. Hosts were knowledgeable and patient. Highly recommended!
Highly recommend the Shokado Bento class, Masa and Ken were just phenomenal! They shared knowledge of the history to the Japanese classics in this class on miso, matcha green tea, tempura, and rice cooking. This is a great class for anyone who wants a well-rounded approach to the Japanese kitchen classics. Its location is also a bonus just blocks from Kappabashi Street in Asakusa. Make sure you allow yourself hours before or after the class to enjoy the shopping for anything and everything Japanese for your kitchen.
Musa was a really good teacher and easy to understand.
Learning how to make ramen and gyoza is no small feat but Chagohan Tokyo is supremely talented and patient with its students. Chefs offered step by step guides and visuals to keep the class moving forward to the ultimate reward, eating a delicious Japanese meal!
We learned a lot from this class and really enjoyed this experience!
We had an excellent time learning how to cook with your guidance. The atmosphere was welcoming and the in depth explanations for the recipe was wonderful. Absolutely planning on signing up for more classes!
Thank you Masa! You are a lovely host.
I always made ramen via the instant method though now I can make it from scratch and boy it was super easy!
The teacher and his wife were the cutest! They were so friendly, and really taught my friend and I the correct way to make delicious, authentic sushi! I would totally recommend this class to anyone!
The team is available and very kind. The class was very clear and understanding. We had a lot of fun and it was delicious! Thank you to everybody!
I liked it very much! When I return to Tokyo, I will definitely take another class. Thank you
It was a fantastic experience and the studio is very well equipped. Thank you so much for everything El
The teachers was very helpful in showing how to make ramen and gyoza. The class was hands on, plus detailed recipes and procedures were provided. We had no idea that ramen was so involved! Everything was delicious, and we really enjoyed our class.
Insegnante eccellente, molto attento e disponibile.
Thank you for a lovely time. I can wait to try everything at learn at home.
It was a great experience to cook the Japanese traditional meal with Junko and Masa!
It was well worth the money to see how the different components of nigiri Sushi was made and get hands on experience to perform it infront of the instructors. They turned out greater than I could imagine and most of all the instructors were super friendly.
Highly recommend!
One of my favourite things about Japan is the food, and ramen in particular. So I signed up for this course to see how to cook it. Turns out that it’s bloody difficult! However the chef and his wife were very patient and talk you though every stage. A really good, fun course and highly recommended.
A great cooking class, very nice people teaching us and we are so greatful for this experience! Thank you so much!
The hosts were very friendly and accommodating even though I was 20 minutes late. I attended alone It was mainly couples there. I was paired with one half of a couple and one of them was vegetarian who was alone. This made things all little bit awkward but the couple were very friendly. We made a delicious meal of ramen and gyoza and sake. A fun experience and a nice way to chat to other tourists.
The team at Chagohan gave us a fantastic cooking experience. Masa is extremely knowledgeable and struck the right balance between fun and educative. We really enjoyed our experience and now have recipes for gyoza and ramen that we plan to use when we get home!
We ENJOYED and learned so much as to make “delicious” tempura. The instructor Masa-san is outstanding and his wife, Junko-san is so gracious, we felt most welcomed. We highly recommend this class! 😊
My husband and I took the Shojin Ryori cooking class with Masa. By the end of class, we had made a delicious dinner. Recipes are well written and simple enough to make at home. Masa loves what he does and gives care and attention to details. A fun experience for your time in Tokyo :)
Had a lot of fun getting introduced to sushi making with this class. Knowledgable instructor, great facilities, and oh so yummy ingredients. Would definitely recommend!
The teacher was super helpful and nice and he stayed with us after the class for a bit to explain about knives, sharpening stones and other equipment. The class itself was informative and the food came out delicious. Would recommend!
The class was very well prepared and the amount of students was just right. The teacher as well as his wife are lovely people and knowladgable around cooking, food shopping and Japanese table manners which I enjoyed the explanation a lot. The results of the cooking class were great! I enjoyed every minute of it. Thanks again!
Thanks Maasa for a great hands on experience making Tokyo style ramen. Fresh ingredients and hands on !
Chagohan was recommended to us by our hotel concierge. What an excellent recommendation! We did the tempura class. We were the only people in our session, so it ended up being a private lesson. The owners, Masa and Junko, are extremely gracious. Masa is very knowledgeable and an excellent teacher. He taught us how to: make dashi broth, slice tuna and salmon sashimi, prepare vegetables and shrimp for tempura, make tempura batter, and cook the tempura! Now we can do it at home! This was a lot of fun, and we would definitely come back for another class on a future trip to Tokyo.
Masa the teacher was very informative and I was lucky that I was the only person in the class so received extra special attention I was able to pick up lots of tricks and tips that I can use when I cook Japanese food I work as a chef so have added new skills to my repitoire Truly great experience
Excellent demonstration and interaction with the class. As the class size is small it felt like you were bring guided through in a supportive way. Whilst a confirmed carnivore there were great tips for vegetarian alternatives. It was the highlight of my trip to Japan!
With excellent instruction a super yummy vegan menu was created. Everything was perfect. Would definitely come back for more couses at Chagohan at another time.
Wonderful class, loved the instructors.
Well organized. Very kind and friendly teacher. No stress at all but so much fun. I strongly recommend!
I had the most amazing lesson with Hirano-san. I was very lucky to be the only person there that Sunday. Hirano-san is a very knowledgable, friendly and patient chef and teacher (or sensei). I got to understand not only the ingredients, but also how to use the utensils, including the sashimi knife. I'm grateful for all I have learned, and got a little closer to understanding the wonders of umami in Japanese cooking. I know I will be coming back to learn something different when in Tokyo in 2019.
Very good! We enjoyed especially the gyoza part
Friendly hosts and we learnt a lot. Fabulous experience!
El chef y su esposa fueron maravillosos. La clase fue muy detallada y agradable. El resultado final fue un delicioso Ramen. Muy recomendado.
Masa and his wife was very nice! Everything was well organized and the food tasted great
the instructor is a very nice chef. Everything is being explaned in detail and the instructor is open for all questions concerning Ramen. Enjoying ones own Ramen together at the end of the class was a perfect roundup and it was delicious!
Masa was extremely nice and thorough in his instruction. He also provided a copy of the recipe and instructions so that we could reproduce the steps at home.
We loved our entire experience. The instructors were incredibly welcoming and informative. In such a short time, we learned so much about Japanese cuisine and culture!
Masa and Junko were very welcoming. We learnt a lot about the ingredients and basis of the japanese cuisine while making a truly delicious okonomiyaki!
Amazing
Great hostess. Great class. Thanks
We enjoyed the class so much! First we thought it was a bit far from where we were staying (Shibuya), so it would cost us too much of our precious time in Tokyo to travel there. But it was definitely worth it! Beautiful studio in a lovely neighbourhood. And the best part? Enjoying your own meal with the group :)
Our group took the nigiri making class. The hosts were kind and patient with our large group. The quality of the food was great and our end meal delicious!
The hosts were so friendly and explained everything was very clear!
We had a lovely time and enjoyed the class so much!
Very good Food, abnice and cool chef and teacher! Loved it!
The class was funny, inspiring and the food we made was delicious! Recomended to everyone
Hosts were absolutely lovely and welcoming people. They carefully led us through ramen cooking in an understandable and well structured way. It was as delicious - definitely a 10/10!
This was a great class. Learned how to properly make sushi from a real sushi chef. He taught us great techniques and skills to practice to make the best tasting sushi. We all know that sushi isn’t just about the taste. He also showed us how to present a beautiful dish. I love how ceremonial and artistic it is to eat in Japan.
Great class! Learn the in’s and out’s of ramen making. Secret to a great ramen starts with great stock. Learned how to make the stock from scratch. Then made all the components and assembled. But nothing beats the tasting part of learning.
we really spend a lovely night. We liked the cooking items, it was very professional. the teacher and the assistant were very nice! we learned many things and we spent a really interesting time. we would attend an other class with them!
The class was a lot of fun! The chef explained everything very well and the ingredients were so fresh and yummy. We enjoyed eating the meal that we had made at the end too :) I learned some useful tips to make my home-made sushi more tasty - I can't wait to try!
It was such a great class we learned a lot about the basis of Japanese cooking.
The class was alit of fun, it was just me and my girlfriend, the hospitality was great and the food was delicious
The instruction were delivered in English (albeit a little broken) with loads of history and cultural backgrounds. We cooked / hand made the Japanese egg roll, maki, primary dashi, and nigri of various fish.
Very well organized and it was a pleasure to eat our self- prepared lunch. Very nice setting Thank you
Warm welcome and very authentic cooking with a lot of tips and tricks hope to make perfect ramen and Gyoza. Thanks a lot to the owners for the friendly class.
Great cooking class - Masa and his Wife were incredibly welcoming, and as I was vegan they went to special lengths to ensure I had a vegan recipe and didn’t miss out on the experience. I would highly recommend doing this class if you would like a taste of Tokyo!
Excellent cooking class , I find it so helpful to learn how to make dishes In country, taking away the mystery and learning the special little flavour tricks to get the authentic taste to recreate back home. Masa and Jinku are delightful hosts and teachers. Highly recommended, can’t wait to come back to Tokyo to do another!😀👌👍

Our hosts and sensei were most knowledgeable and skillful, perfectly prepared for the group, and everything flowed according to plan. We were absolutely thrilled with the experience and are going back for another class in a few days. Masa-san and Junko-san are the most delightful people! We highly recommend this experience to those wishing to enjoy a cultural cooking class bar none!
This cooking class was wonderful, worth every penny. I would do it again, and recommend it to anyone.
This cooking class was wonderful, myself and three sisters were on Tokyo for 2 days and went to this cooking class and we absolutely loved it!!! So much fun and the couple who’s runs this are AMAZING!!! 100% recommend.
I thoroughly recommend going to Chagohan Tokyo and doing one of their classes. Masa and Junko are a great team. Fun, friendly vibe and they guided us through the process of making Asakusa Classic Ramen and Crispy Gyoza. The food was delicious and all fresh natural ingredients. It was one of the highlights of my visit to Tokyo. Easy to find and get to too. Don’t hesitate book your class today.
Masa and his wife are excellent teachers and walked us through every step of creating our own delicious ramen and gyoza. Along the way they answered all our questions around the history of ramen or questions about ingredients. Overall, highly recommended!
This has been one of the best experiences of my trip. My son and daughter-in-law did it November and recommended it to me. I would recommend it anyone wanting to learn to cook Japanese food. The hosts/instructors were excellent and most accommodating. Do it, how will not be disappointed.
We made some of the best ramen and gyoza I’ve ever had in this class. Instructions were easy to follow and we had fun every step of the way. Highly recommended.
I had a great time. It was really informative, fun and the food we made was excellent.
It was amazing learning experience. I am very thankful that I took my classes with cookly. They are very nice, friendly and professional chef. We were lucky because we work with them one on one and we had a good time while learning with them. I have learned a lot from them and with their facilities. Now I like making my tempura at home and soon will have tempura party with friends. I am proud that I learned from your classes Thank you so much.
Super friendly and cute husband & wife cooking class! They have a whole dedicated cooking studio so it was definitely more spacious compared to any other Japanese places/home, clean, cute, and convenient. The cooking class is located around the tourist spot so it was also great to look at traditional Tokyo culture. Overall, the cooking class was really fun to learn how Japanese people would make their own soup stock or food bases, mingle with local Japanese people & other international tourists, and take photos to keep the memories together. I feel like ramen and Gyoza class is more practical than sushi class so that is why I chose this class and I am really grateful that I did! If you want to feel the more local culture and do something fresh & unique in Tokyo, I would highly recommend this cooking class. We made great memories. :)
Didn't know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. junko and Masa( apologies for the misspelling ) were very hospitable and clear and informative instructors. The outcome was delicious and relatively easy to replicate at home. I would highly recommend it.
Loved the class we learnt how to make the stock both chicken and fish and how to prepare and put together a ramen dish, we also were taught about the Gyoza how to mix the filling and fold the wrapper before cooking, overall a great experience with lovely people running the course I would highly recommend it. It was topped off by a delicious lunch which we had prepared ourselves and photos given to us of our class.
So happy I chose this company. I really felt looked after. The explanations were very thorough and I enjoyed the whole experience completely. I will definitely come back when back in Japan.
It was a really good 2 hours learning and preparing the food! Master’s English was good and had a lovely chat while we shared our creations. The ramen was the best ramen I’ve ever had!! Delicious 😊
The teacher was so gently and nice We are 3 students but except me different food class so it was almost 1:1 class I of course recommend this class
Masa and Junko were so hospitable to us, and very accommodating to our children as well. What a great way to experience Tokyo’s food and cultures! After feasting on our culinary creations, we wound our way through the neighbourhood exploring and enjoying our time in Tokyo!
Awesome class!
Great class. Very personalised and informative. Our cooking teachers were a lovely Japanese couple who were patient and gave us lots of guidance and information along the way. The sushi tasted amazing! I would recommend this class.
We learnt to cook ramen and gyoza and had a great time! The class was very interesting and the teacher very nice. We recommend this experience!
it was amazing to learn how to cook ramen! 100% recommended!
Instructors are an amazing couple and very helpful from beginning to end. Enjoyed the class and the meal immensley!! Great location near the Sensoji Temple. Thank you again
My partner and I loved this class. The hosts were very knowledgeable and friendly and guided us through the cooking process in an easy to follow manner. The chicken/fish broth ramen and gyoza were delicious! Would highly recommend this class.
Teachers are very kind and polite. They are great hosts, and they speak a good english. Moreover the kitchen itself is very nice and modern. They learnt us how to cook Japaneese food with ingridents we can find in our country. Everything is provided to make you spend a very good moment. The food we made was particularly delicious, as expected :). To add on your "to do list" in Tokyo!
Really enjoyed this class. It was just me and my sister there so we had plenty of opportunity to ask questions!
We were treated as special guests prior to our arrival - including detailed instructions to get there from our hotel. Upon arrival they couldn’t have been more gracious hosts. The class itself was outstanding. Great hands on involvement and detailed information on preparation. The food was delicious! We try to take a cooking class on every international trip to learn the cooking methods and more detail about ingredients and preparation. This is one of the best I’ve ever taken.
Loved Masa and his wife’s class. Best part of our trip so far.
Had a great time at Masa‘s cooking class. Not only were we able to cook fresh Ramen and Gyoza but also learned a lot about Japanese cuisine and sake. The whole vibe was very relaxed and welcoming. Really was a fun experience and I would definitely come back on my next trip to Tokyo.
Amazing experience in a nice location with a attentive teacher
Fun and learning for all age groups. Highly recommend also that you visit Kappabashi before or after as very close by and convenient
Everyone in our group had a wonderful time and Masa and Junko were lovely. We all learned so much and will be very happy to show off to our friends with all of these new skills and knowledge about Japanese food.
Interesting cooking class, Nice and friendly staff. Thank you !
our hosts were very nice, have a very equipped shop for cooking lessons, cooperated with the food limitations we set for them, explained the process wonderfully including substitutes we can find outside of Japan recommended !!
We were warmly welcomed by Masa and Junko and immediately set about going through the ingredients and how they are used generally in Japanese cooking and specifically to okonomiyaki. We made dashi from scratch to add to the okonomiyaki batter, and while we made these classic Japanese savoury pancakes on our own burners, Junko whipped up some lovely little salads and a deep miso made with the remaining dashi stock. Anyone who loves hands-on cooking and Japanese food will love this friendly and informative course. Wonderful sake with our shared meal, too! Highly recommended
10/10 would cook with Masa-San again
Nice cooking class, we learned how to make okonomiyaki. The staff was nice, helpful and welcoming. We enjoués the session.
Thanks Masa-san and Junko-san for the entertaining and friendly guidance!
Really enjoyed this class .. my son and I had a private class.. which was great .. lots delicious food .. in fact way too much food.
Mas is a real foodie and speaks perfect english and junko is so classic. Great class and great conversation afterwards with a lot of sake ...
It was my first cooking class in Japan and I enjoyed it!! Having come from Bali, this is an eye opening experience for me. The couple who taught me were really friendly and patient too. The location is also strategic and close to the kitchen street. Thank you Mr.Masahito and Mrs.Junko!
What a great class, very small group, very friendly personable chef, teachers. We loved it!
Very nice people, easy to become friends. Very small group (max 5, but I got a private class). English is quite good.
We had such a great time in this one-on-one class, cooking Ramen and Gyoza from scratch. The traditional skills were conveyed in a easy to understand and hands on manner. Within days of arriving back home we had cooked up a fabulous meal. The teachers were very knowledgeable and did their best to help us with our stay. Can't wait to go back again.
Had the best time. It ended up being a private class just for my friend and I. Teachers were super nice and fun. They gave simple, easy to follow instructions and a bit of overview of Were ingredients came from, traditions etc. Highly recommended!
Really enjoyed this class. I'm pretty new to even the basics of Japanese cooking. Masa the instructor was both very supportive and shared his knowledge in a very clear fashion. The meal chosen was well designed to facilitate using a variety of different skills (cutting, frying, presentation etc.) We ate the meal at a fairly leisurely pace so I never felt like I was being rushed. really good sake too. Highly recommended.
The host is very friendly. It is not only about cooking but also about learning Japanese culture food knowledge. It is all in English. If you don't know japanese, it is definitely fine to join. At the end of tempura class, we had a glass of sake. The host is also a sake lover and master. End up we spend one more hour having our masterpiece and talk about Japanese wine. It is definitely value to journey!
My girlfriend and I had a fantastic time in this class! Masa and his wife were both extremely helpful and the food was incredibly delicious. We only had 3 students enrolled for our session, so the experience mimicked a traditional Japanese family dinner more so than a class. We even got to stick around for some conversation over sake/japanese whisky after it was all done. Highly recommend the experience! Can't say enough great things!
We signed up for the Shokado Bento lesson. The kitchen was in a traditional Japanese house. The instructors taught us basic techniques first. The instructor was so helpful and encouraging since we had varying levels of cooking skills. Unfamiliar ingredients and cooking techniques were thoroughly explained. It was an incredibly enjoyable afternoon and I would highly recommend the experience!!
I strongly recommend this to those who love Japanese food or are looking for a unique cultural experience. Making sushi was much more fun than I expected. The teacher was really nice, friendly and her explanation was clear. All dishes were tasty. I recommend this experience!
My friends and I love Japanese food and we were looking to learn how to cook it. We heard about Cookly and found this class at Chagohan which eventually became the highlight of our trip. We really enjoyed making sushis and Okonomiyaki! I would love to go there again to try out different classes and dishes. Thank you for the great experience.
Highly recommended for young, less young, anyone who likes Japanese food and cooking...
It was small class, so all of us got to see and try all the food. Our instructor were well-organized and great at answering all our questions. We used very high quality ingredients and every dish tasted so good. It is definitely a must do activity in Tokyo!
Course is pretty good. Nice experience
My sister and I learned so much from this sushi class. The class was hosted by Hiroko-San, she taught fluently in English. We had so much fun and socialized with other participants in class. Then we enjoyed our precious meal. It's totally worth it to come here.
With my 11 year old son we followed a Nigiri Sushi course . The chef was very professionnal, hepful and super nice. Everything was just perfect! Marta from Brussels
I had never made miso from scratch before and they took us through all the steps and it ended up being so easy. And then they took us through all the steps for tempura, I had made tempura before but never quite got it right and got all the extra little tips I needed to really take it to the next level. The primary instructor Hiroko is great with very good English. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is interested in Japanese cooking.
