We had just a short amount of free time and were able to fit this in during a work trip to Hong Kong. It was well worth our time. Great food, great instruction and fun tour of the market. Great opportunity to better understand Hong Kong culture
We only had a couple of days in Hong Kong on business but we were able to make time for this class and it was great
We had a lovely time with Bill. The food and Bill were amazing. We cooked and talked about the food, culture and life in Hongkong. It was a complete experience of taste of Hongkong!
My wife and I had a ball. The food, the teaching and the great conversation along the way was all awesome! Would definitely recommend Pots n Pans.
We highly recommend taking this cooking class from Bill. The studio is beautiful, and Bill is an excellent teacher. We made dumplings, hot and sour soup, and kung pao chicken. Bill also made fresh shrimp for us and shared a braised pork belly dish that he had already made. The recipes will be easy to replicate at home, and everything was delicious.
Take this class! Come hungry and you will not be disappointed! Bill's tour of the market and explanation of Hong Kong life (traditional and now) is both fascinating and educational. The cooking studio is a great space to work in. Bill's demonstrations are clear and easy to follow and he provides great tips during the hands on cooking. Talking with Bill about both food and life in Hong Kong made the time go so fast we were surprised the class was over and sad to leave the studio. The food is delicious and we will cook these at home.
My boyfriend & I have always had a passion for cooking. We knew one thing we really wanted to do when he came to visit me in Hong Kong was an authentic Chinese cooking class. We were lucky enough to come across Bill's cooking studio. We started the day by going to the wet market where Bill taught us many interesting facts about the market & the city itself. It was a great way to start a cooking class as we got to see just where & how the locals got their ingredients. Next, Bill took us to the cooking studio where we ate good food, improved our cooking skills, & had a lot of laughs. We were very diligent in taking notes on our recipes to make sure we were able to replicate them to be as tasty as the ones Bill initially cooked for us. We had such a great time with Bill & recommend everyone to check out his cooking classes. We hope to see Bill again in the future so he can help us become even better cooks!
I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Bill. He gave an excellent tour of a local market in a working class neighborhood. It was a great way to see how the average person in Hong Kong purchases their food for cooking. The class itself was nearby in a very modern facility. Bill gave very personal instruction and was a pleasure to talk to. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a local and personal cooking experience.
Bill from Pots n Pans was an excellent host and chef. I would recommend this class to anyone wanting to get the inside understanding of what to look for in a wet market and then preparing and eating some amazing dishes. Very relaxed and professional with 1 on 1 demonstrations all day. We will be back!
We had a brilliant few hours with Bill, who gave us a fascinating market tour and cookery lesson. Bill was an enthusiastic teacher who took the time to talk about Chinese culture and traditions as well as gave us a hands-on class in his state-of-the-art teaching studio. He was also happy to adapt the lesson to suit one of us who is a vegetarian. We made hot and spicy soup, vegetable stir fry, Kung Pao chicken and a fried rice dish -- and we got to eat them all at the end of the lesson! We would thoroughly recommend this experience! Had a great time- the market tour was a great start to the the day and the cooking class with Bill was informative and fun. Very easy (and tasty!) recipes. Highly recommend!!
We offer a fun half-day activity includes both local wet market walking tour and a cooking class.
During the class, you will learn 3-course Chinese cooking including an appetizer, main dish and fry rice or noodles. To reward your hard working, a complementary dessert will be offered after lunch or dinner. This is a great introduction to Chinese culinary culture!
