Highly recommend this experience of discovering the Dadaocheng and see how to prepare some classic Taiwanese dishes. The team is very friendly and welcoming.
The market tour was not a merely window shopping. It offered us tremendous information on the historical stories. We are glad to learn how they are proud of the city. We cooked 4 dishes which were all interesting and delicious. We even took some in a container. The pretty recipe book was presented too. We'd recommend the tour to Japanese fellows as there is a friendly translator.
The class starts with a great tour about the history of the area, then you get the chance to cook authentic Taiwanese cuisine with natural ingredients in one of the historic buildings... great experience!
We cooked all the dishes which was planed on the menu. And even though the weather wasn't quite perfect, we still had 15 minutes of nearby market tour. The amount of food was also enough to make me feel full !
I enjoyed the class very much. It’s a fun, informative and interactive cooking classes for beginners as well as those who cook often. The brief guide tour of Dihua Street and the area was pleasant too. I'd like to go back for a customized class someday.
I enjoyed this event very, very much. The Chef and the team were super nice. The food was fantastic. And we were laughing a lot. What a great afternoon. Highly recommended!
Travel & Cooking is located at the same spot that painter Guo Xuehu depicted in his painting “Prosperity of South Street”. A hundred years ago, this painter used his rich imagination to depict Dihua Street as a pearl necklace-like street, full of bustling and trendy shops. However, this scene has come true in Taiwan today in 2023. The artistic beauty of the abundant alleys has become a must-see attraction for those who come to Taiwan: Dadaocheng. Besides enjoying the beauty of the old street, don’t forget to come visit “Artisan Lane” to learn to make classic Taiwanese dishes.
Travel & Cooking is an excellent attraction for you to enjoy delicious food and experience Taiwanese culture when you travel to Taiwan. As a culinary classroom primarily for tourists, Travel & Cooking has chef Sandy Liu teaching in both Chinese and English. She will accompany you to make Taiwanese dishes by yourself and enjoy eating them right after. Since you are visiting Taiwan, we highly recommend you come to learn with us about Taiwanese traditional food and immerse yourself in the Taiwanese traditional market that takes you back in time! You will walk the old streets, browse the market, and cook Taiwanese food.
