Experience Private or Small Group Cooking Lessons at a Home in Tokyo!

Welcome to our cozy cooking class held in Ikebukuro, the mecca of anime and manga! Just a 2-minute walk from the nearest station, in the heart of Tokyo, enjoy a unique opportunity to learn popular Japanese dishes while experiencing Japanese culture in a cozy, at-home setting.

Here, you can receive direct instruction from a Japanese cuisine chef with over 10 years of experience, learning how to make sushi and prepare matcha tea. This comprehensive class also includes traditional Japanese desserts and miso soup. We provide aprons, so please come empty-handed. Even those living in Japan may not have had the experience of making sushi or preparing matcha themselves, making this experience truly valuable.

Join our class to master the art of crafting three traditional styles of sushi: nigiri, gunkan-maki, and maki sushi. You'll learn essential techniques like fish cutting and sushi rice preparation. Afterward, experience the preparation of matcha tea and savor it alongside traditional Japanese sweets that perfectly complement the tea. This class is designed for everyone to enjoy, offering a unique opportunity to learn the skills and pleasures of creating delicious sushi. We eagerly await your participation!

Additionally, you can opt for a sake tasting for an extra 500 yen per glass, payable on-site.

Menu

This lesson provides you with the opportunity to immerse yourself in Japanese culture under the guidance of a professional chef. Here's what you can experience:

• Sushi history and tools:

Learn about the origin and development of sushi, as well as the tools and seasonings used to make sushi.

• How to make sushi rice:

Master how to make sushi rice, the basics of sushi, using a traditional sushi oke.
A professional chef will demonstrate techniques for expertly handling fresh fish.

• Make nigiri sushi:

Make 8 pieces of nigiri sushi. The ingredients change depending on the season, so you can enjoy nigiri sushi made with seasonal fish.

• Make Gunkanmaki:

Make a piece of Gunkanmaki. Gunkanmaki is a sushi roll with toppings placed on top, making it visually appealing.

• Make thin rolls:

Make thin sushi rolls using bamboo mats. Hosomaki is a type of sushi wrapped with ingredients, and students can learn the technique of making sushi.

• Miso soup

Note:

On the day of the event, if you pay in cash, you can enjoy the following drinks for an additional 500 yen each.

• Sake: Hakkaisan (180ml)
• Beer: Kirin Ichiban Shibori (350ml)

Cronograma

Morning Session

10:50 AM

•  Meet at Zoshigaya Station on the Fukutoshin Line. We will then walk to the classroom, a 2-3 minute walk away. If you come directly to the classroom, it is a 15-20 minute walk from Ikebukuro Station.

11:00 AM

• Introduction of the instructor.
• Brief explanation of the class and overview of the schedule.

11:15 AM

• Learn how to make sushi rice, which is fundamental in sushi-making demonstration on cutting sashimi fish.
• Make 8 pieces of nigiri sushi using fresh seafood (varies by season)
• Learn to make gunkan-maki (battleship roll) with nori, and make one roll.
• Learn to make hosomaki (thin sushi rolls) using a bamboo mat, and make one roll
• Tasting time
• You will enjoy the three types of sushi you made, and their taste is exceptional. Additionally, you will have the chance to enjoy traditional Japanese miso soup.

12:40 PM

• Visit a local supermarket with your chef to explore unique Japanese ingredients and seasonings from your lesson. Discover local flavors, learn food tips, and find perfect souvenirs!

• End of lesson and we look forward to your participation in a different menu next time!
