Have you seen the Pixar short film "Bao"? In our hands-on cooking class, we'll teach you how to make these pillowy steamed buns from scratch.
We will mix the dough and let it rise, shape it into a wrapper, fill with either pork or tofu skin, wrap the bao with beautiful pleats, and then steam the bao to soft and fluffy perfection.
For those unfamiliar with tofu skin: this is a thin layer of boiled soy milk that has been cooled and then solidified. After this layer is dried out, it turns into tofu skin.
We will also cook a second dish, a tangy Hot and Sour Soup, and serve it along with our bao for lunch.
You'll leave our cooking class with the recipes, as well as a short video of your cooking preparations so you can make bao again at home!
