Over ons

Tofu was first made over 2,000 years ago, and today this dish has become an essential part of the culinary culture in many Asian countries. Making a delicious piece of tofu requires skill and deep knowledge of soybeans from the craftsman.

Not stopping at tofu, we have created Vietnam's first vegan cheese made from green soybeans, a local variety found only in Vietnam. In this workshop, you will experience and gain a deeper understanding of the process behind making fresh, delicious tofu, which is an important step in creating the vegan cheese at Long Gia Kitchen, and enjoy dishes featuring this vegan cheese.

"Great Tofu making class!"
We had such a beautiful morning at Long Gias Kitchen learning how to make Tofu from scratch. Long is such a great guy and very enthusiastic about Tofu and his vegan cheese (which tastes fantastic by the way), but also about life, his environment and culture! We were very inspired by him and feel like knowing enough now to try making our own Tofu at home. Thank you so much, Long!
"Fantastic Tofu-Making"
The tofu workshop was great fun and a really interesting way to spend a morning in Hoi An. Using traditional tools and techniques we ground soybeans and made tofu - this was a lot more work than I thought it would be but was really fun and rewarding when it turned out. Long and his team were fantastic and very passionate about making tofu. They also smoked tofu to make an amazing cheese and cream cheese - absolutely delicious - a must try! Would highly recommend if looking for an activity in Hoi An.

"Incredible culinary learning"
We had an incredible time learning how to make organic tofu from native, non-GMO soya beans. I had not known the process took so much patience and precision! It was certainly an art that had to be done with heart. The final product was delicious, but more importantly the process was fun and time flew by! Our hosts were so passionate about making tofu and vegan cheese from tofu. They are also hospitable and fun people that are a delight to spend time with. By the way their smoked tofu hard cheese is perhaps the most versatile cheese I know!
