We had an absolutely fantastic time during our cooking class in Vietnam! My two sons and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
The adventure started when the owner of the restaurant kindly picked us up from our hostel. Together, the four of us explored the local market, where he passionately explained everything about the fresh produce, meats, and exotic fruits. He also shared insights about the best times to shop, as most fresh ingredients are typically purchased in the morning. Since we had chosen the afternoon session, there was no need for us to buy ingredients, but it was still a fascinating experience.
After the market visit, we drove to the restaurant, where the owner introduced us to his restaurant’s concept, his homegrown vegetable garden, and the local initiatives promoting natural, pesticide-free farming. It was inspiring to see how the community supports sustainable agriculture.
Once at the restaurant, we found all the ingredients neatly prepared for us. The owner guided us through each step of the cooking process with clear instructions, making it easy and enjoyable to follow along. We prepared several traditional Vietnamese dishes, and it was incredibly rewarding to see everything come together.
The highlight was setting the table with all the delicious dishes we had made and enjoying the fresh, authentic flavour. Knowing that everything was prepared with fresh ingredients made it taste even better!
As a wonderful surprise, we received a certificate with our names on it – a great keepsake from this memorable experience. To top it all off, we ended the meal with some fresh fruit for dessert.
Overall, this cooking class was a fantastic way to learn more about Vietnamese cuisine and culture. The owner’s hospitality, expertise, and passion made it truly special. We highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Vietnam!
