In every "new" country we travel to, we do a cooking course. Firstly, to get to know the cuisine and also to have a nice day with other people, who mostly come from different countries. Here we were given a very friendly welcome at the meeting point for a visit to the market and were able to get to know the different fruits, vegetables and spices on offer. We were also allowed to go to the market stall and watch exactly how coconut milk and coconut meat are processed - great :-) Vivian, our cooking teacher, was already waiting for us at the school with her team. After a small breakfast that had already been prepared, we learned about various exciting dishes and cooked ourselves, each at their own cooking station and were active the whole time. The other participants were also very communicative and nice - it was really fun and we had a very nice day. Many thanks and greetings from Hamburg, Katja and Bernd.
Ms Saadiah explained us each ingredients and dishes of histories, nutrition and why she cooks certain ways which were really fascinating to us. It was the highlight of our trip and we will take the class again. Thank you Ms Saadiah!
Well prepared, well run class! Takes place in an outdoor, huge covered patio area, with natural breeze for cooling and out of the sun! We used traditional brass wok and excellent equiptment. Could adjust the spicy to fit my taste. The chef explained everything really well, and is very talented. She helped us get transport back to hotel at end of class too. Was glad to take this class on the last day of our vacation, before heading to the airport for the evening flight back to Europe!
We really liked the exchange both of small tricks in the kitchen and cultural insights! Everything was well prepared and the cooking part went quite smoothly! Thank you for a lovely time!
I like going to cooking classes when I travel. Since my husband and I were in KL for a few days, we signed up foŕ this class. I asked the school if I could learn to cook rendang, my favourite dish, and my wish was granted! In the end, we had the beautiful rendang dish that was so delicious with a rich yet delicate flavour of spices after slow gentle cooking . Ana (the owner) also threw in extra lessons and showed us how to make fritters, nasi lemak and sambal. The class itself was well organIzed, and we were all having fun. Zeera, the instructor was so enthusiastic and a great teacher. There was a market tour prior, and we got to try roti canai with some gravy. I would definitely recommended taking this class.
Would totally recommend the experience to other keen cooks
We visited Malaysia for a lot of reasons. I was with my family and we have planned this vacation for months. Since we all love food, we decided to do a cooking class which was recommended by a friend we met along the way. Overall, this experience provided us the experience that we will not forget. Our family was able to bond with culture, friends and food. Highly recommended! We had the friday menu which consisted of Malay Classic Nasi Lemak Prawn Sambal and Sago Pudding. We had a feast altogether after the lecture and the hands on cooking.
I attended the class on the day of the authentic Malay dishes. First, we went to a local market for a breakfast where the tourist guide lady showed us the basic ingredients what we used while cooking. After that, we went to the kitchen which is located near the city in the rainforest. We especially liked the chef Saadiya with her experience and happy mood. It was a good session, I definitely recommend it.
A great experience - nice food, Malaysian culture, the best teachers, a lovely location. I liked the setting with start at the market, to see all the ingredients and get the feeling of understanding of what I saw at the market. Then, the location for the cooking class was excellent - a true feeling of the jungle. To that, add very good recipes and skilled and charming teachers.
Since food was one of our main reasons for visiting Malaysia, we knew we wanted to do a cookery class and reviews suggested this was the best one and we were glad to have chosen it. Overall this was one of our favourite things that we did in KL, and would highly recommend the school and Laty to any visiting foodies.
The class started from a local market, where we had breakfast and learned about the key element of Malaysian food, then went to the kitchen house, located at a quiet mountainous area. LaZat cooking class is one of the most unforgettable and fun experience we had in KL, definitely worth a visit, don't miss it if you are planning a trip to Malaysia!
Loved loved loved Lazat cooking class!!!! We made some great dishes & Ana & lati where such a good help!
