BeMyGuest Taipei is a cooking school for those who want to experience the truly Taiwanese culture. We are located at Dadaocheng, a historic Taipei city center area, with a lot of cultural and traditional gems.
Join Alex on a journey through the alleys of Dadaocheng, the historic heart of Taipei. As you wander through this vibrant area, you'll hear local stories and gossip while making your way to a traditional market. Along the way, you'll discover an array of local ingredients, have the chance to taste authentic traditional delicacies, and chat directly with local vendors to deepen your appreciation of Taiwanese culture.
Learn how to make this famous club dish—guaranteed to help with hangovers for life.
Dadaocheng, where BeMyGuest Taipei is located, is the birthplace of Taipei’s Jiujia (Men's Club) culture. During the prosperous era of Dadaocheng, Jiujia was the gathering place for men to recite poetry, discuss current affairs, negotiate business deals, and of course, enjoy gourmet cuisine. In this class, we will prepare one of these gourmet dishes.
Beyond cooking, you'll also explore some of Dadaocheng's rich history and hear local stories about this once-thriving and fashionable area of Taipei from 170 years ago. Alex will share fascinating local tales and gossip as we walk to the traditional market.
At the market, we’ll discover various local ingredients and sample some of Taiwan's gourmet specialties.
