Weekend Picnic Over the Lake of Aztec Kings with a Visit to Prehispanic Floating Gardens (Chinampas)

We will take the subway to reach the area of Tláhuac, where we will visit the Lake of the Aztec Kings sailing on a "trajinera" which is a small boat built by local farmers with wood from the region. We will observe the natural environment while learning about the history and cultural and natural richness of this unknown area of Mexico City. We will taste Pulque, an ancestral agave drink and enjoy some healthy snacks on board. We will visit a chinampa (permaculture islands) and we harvest our own lettuce and spinach with which we will prepare our own salad on the boat where we will share these freshly harvested vegetables, accompanied by other local dishes made from corn, beans, mushrooms and vegetables, prepared by the community for us. I will prepare other snacks with local ingredients to share in the picnic with you.

• Guacamole (avocado, onion, coriander and chilli)
• Fresh cheese
• Tamales (corn, chicken or cheese)
• Clacoyos (blue corn, beans, nopal, coriander and onion)
• Totopos (corn toast)
• Beans dip 
• Salad (with seasonal vegetables)

スケジュール

• 12:00 pm: Meet you at Liverpool Insurgentes (at the crystal Pyramid)
• 12:15 pm: Travel by subway to Tláhuac.
• 13:15 pm: Arrive to the lake and visit the local food stores. Pulque tasting.
• 13:30 pm: Trip on traditional boat (Trajinera) and picnic.
• 14:30 pm: Visit Chinampa (floating garden) and meet a local farmer who will explain us about this prehispanic agricultural technique for food producing.
• 15:30 pm: Travel by subway to come back to the meeting point.
