I very much enjoyed cooking class and market tour with David. It was my introduction to the locally grown fruits and vegetables and the cooking techniques. David is very passionate about cooking and Mayan culture and traditions. He shared a lot of interesting stories about the region and the food. On top of that we prepared delicious meal.
The small class (never more than 6) was only 4. It was held in the hotel’s all stainless kitchen. David the chef was so very knowledgeable and a great teacher. The result was our 5 course meal eaten on and outdoor patio. For those on a cruise the time schedule is perfect. It starts at 9:30 and is finished by 1:45. Just right to travel by taxi from the port in Progreso to Mérida and return by 3:30. It’s really a must!! Joy and David Turkel Houston Texas
Our family truly enjoyed the market tour and cooking class with David. He was super knowledgeable and very good in explaining the local context of the foods we were preparing . The lunch turned out to be super delicious and our teenage sons learned quite a bit! Many thanks, David!
Our chef was amazing! He took us on a historical tour of the neighborhood before shopping at the market. Once at the market, he spent time teaching us about ingredients for the dishes we were cooking that day as well as introducing us to new foods that were indigenous to Mexico. When we returned to the kitchen, he showed us exactly how to prepare four appetizers, the main course and dessert. We ended our experience with lunch prepared by us and lovely conversation! It was a perfect day!
Very friendly & informative class. It was a great experience from start to finish. Oscar, our chef was great & spoke fantastic English which made the experience even better. Everyone we encountered at the hotel were so accommodating. Would recommend doing this class!
