BeMyGuest Taipei is a cooking school for those who want to experience the truly Taiwanese culture. We are located at Dadaocheng, a historic Taipei city center area, with a lot of cultural and traditional gems.

Join Alex on a journey through the alleys of Dadaocheng, the historic heart of Taipei. As you wander through this vibrant area, you'll hear local stories and gossip while making your way to a traditional market. Along the way, you'll discover an array of local ingredients, have the chance to taste authentic traditional delicacies, and chat directly with local vendors to deepen your appreciation of Taiwanese culture.

Braised pork rice and pork thick soup (蒜味肉羹湯) is a garlic-flavored, hearty meat soup. During times of economic hardship, meat was considered a luxury for most people. To make their meals more satisfying, some started using inexpensive cuts of pork and collagen-rich pig skin to create the traditional dish of braised pork rice, a recipe that has been cherished and passed down through generations in Taiwan.

Pork thick soup is one of Taiwan's most beloved and delicious soup dishes, with each region offering its own unique twist. We'll be preparing the garlic-flavored version, which has been my favorite since childhood.
