The secret to a happy and healthy, traditional cuisine is to use fresh ingredients. Right beside our cooking classes venue, we operate a cute, little garden which we use to grow our own vegetables and spices. Everything else that we need for our classes, we go gather at local food markets around Hualien early in the mornings. This way we can guarantee that our food is always fresh, and as an extra, we support our local communities along the way.
When the group arrives at our premises, we like to show our guests around the garden first. This way, you'll get a good feeling for what's important in aboriginal food culture and about how to grow certain plants. We don't keep animals at Karenko, but we source meats from the local, aboriginal butcher and buy our fish fresh off the boats at Qixingtan Beach fishing village.
At the end of our class, you will sit down to enjoy the food you have prepared, along with a glass of wine or a beer, great company and newly attained knowledge that you will take home with you. So, be prepared to roll up your sleeves, tie on your apron and get cooking!
You're welcome to join us to experience truly aboriginal food culture. The ambiance in Karenko is relaxed and you will be sharing the experience with like-minded people in our beautiful venue.
