"Really enjoyable!!"
Kitty was great. So lovely and helpful. She was very flexible and allowed me to change the time on the day. She was very accommodating and allowed me to bring my baby. She also tailored the ingredients for our tastes and dietary restrictions. The process of learning was really fun and we were really impressed with the outcome. The dumpling were sooo good and we can't wait to put our new skills into action and make the again!
"Great !"
What a great experience with our lovely host Kitty ! We had a really good time learning about Shau Kei Wan wet market and about dumplings. We are now ready to cook with friends at home !
"Great class!"
Such a fun experience. First we had a wet market tour where all our questions were patiently explained. Then we went back to the apartment and were shown step-by-step how to make different style dumplings. Definitely recommend attending this class :)
"A fantastic introduction to authentic Hong Kong dumplings!"
I booked a 2-hour dumpling cooking class on a Wednesday afternoon, and was picked up at the metro station by Kitty from the Yau family cooking class. I happened to be the only student in the class on that day, so ended up getting a private tour which was excellent! Kitty first took me around the market to buy ingredients for the dumplings, which I very much enjoyed. I like going to markets at home, but I think I would have been a little too intimidated to go around a market in Hong Kong on my own, so it was great to be accompanied by a local and be able to ask questions about the food on display. After the market tour, we went back to Kitty's place to cook the dumplings. It was a lovely experience to cook with Kitty in her home, and it felt like spending the afternoon with a friend! The dumplings themselves are surprisingly easy to make, and you also get a printed copy of the recipe to take home. We made them with organic mince pork and pak choi, but I guess you could use any combination of ingredients. The dumplings were delicious, and I will certainly try and make them again at home! I loved the class, and would recommend it to anyone looking to experience authentic Hong Kong and sometime a little different during their holiday. While you're in the area, I would also recommend visiting a couple of temples in the neighbourhood, they are worth the visit and well signposted from the metro station. Overrall, one of my favourite activities during my visit to Hong Kong, so if you're a foodie you're guaranteed to enjoy it!
