Head to Kyoto's lively Gion district for a one-of-a-kind Ramen Noodle Making Experience, where you'll craft your own ramen noodles from scratch. This hands-on workshop takes place at Musoshin, a renowned restaurant that welcomes over 6,000 visitors monthly. Under expert guidance, you’ll learn to make Musoshin’s signature ramen noodles from start to finish. Musoshin operates three locations in Kyoto and one in Toronto, Canada, which has even earned recognition in Canada’s Michelin guide!
During the class, your instructor will first walk you through the noodle-making process using a special machine. You’ll then mix water and knead the dough (made with two types of flour) before expertly rolling it into sheets and cutting the noodles with guidance from your instructor. This immersive experience showcases the perfect blend of quality ingredients and local craftsmanship.
Musoshin’s Kyoto branch, located in a former traditional house in the famous Gion district, is known for its unique black ramen made with locally sourced black sesame. The restaurant also uses high-quality rice from the Kyotamba region and condiments from local producers for an authentic ramen experience. Their soup, rich and flavorful, is crafted from a blend of vegetables for a smooth, mild taste that pairs perfectly with the freshly made noodles.
Musoshin’s noodles are crafted from a carefully chosen mix of flour varieties, aged to achieve just the right chewiness while remaining silky smooth. At the end of the workshop, you’ll get to savor a delicious bowl of ramen made with your very own noodles!
