" You will see Khaosan in a completely new way when you walk around with Kaew on the way to the market. The menu that we cooked was from Kaew’s family’s recipe. A quick visit to a rice paper factory is included, something you would never see if you were exploring Khaosan by yourself. "

What I liked: She will show you the backstreets and the secret local markets that you will miss if a local didn't show you around. The market is as local as it gets. About 6 families come together and sell what they buy from the wholesale flower market nearby. Kaew’s helpful tips on Thai cooking are also very insightful.
What to know: This is a simple cooking school in the Khaosan area.
Good for: Backpackers staying near Khaosan
How to get there: National Stadium BTS and then take a taxi or tuk tuk to Khaosan.

Teacher Gaew speaks good english, and her recipes are restaurant standard, such as the green curry and pad thai. All the dishes cooked from the basic ingredients even the tumeric juice. Very delicious recipes, and useful, well day spent. Thank you for the class!

The tour through the back streets & alleys to various markets to purchase our ingredients was a real eye-opener & extremely interesting. Then our host showed us the correct Thai way to prepare each element of each dish was was very informative. I learnt a lot & the taste of the food was amazing.

We first went to the local market where we got a lot of information about all the ingrediënts en how to use them. After that we starter cooking the six dishes. Every dish was soooo good, it had such rich flavours. Afterwards we got the recipes which are very clear. It was one of the nicest things we’ve done in Bangkok!
