We were met at the market by the gorgeous Dung who led us on an informative tour of the market, explaining different ingredients and their uses in different dishes. We collected some fruits and went to the Cooking school where everything was prepared for us to cook 3 dishes. Summer rolls , Vietnamese pancakes and a delicious braised pork dish. Dung spoke fabulous English and was adept at engaging her students with questions and interesting facts. She ensured everyone was managing their cooking tasks and the dishes were cooking as they should . After our feast we were presented with certificates and a lovely recipe book to take home. I would highly recommend this cooking class to anyone keen to recreate some of the delicacies tasted here in Vietnam! Thank you Dung!
Best cooking class we’ve ever done! Authentic Vietnamese cuisine. Was very hands on and Dung the instructor was so helpful. All the dishes were amazing. The pho we made was the most delicious I’ve ever had. This class is a must do in Ho Chi Minh!
My husband booked a cooking class for me while in Vietnam. He ended up joining me as his business meeting was postponed. We loved it! Dung took us through the Ben Thanh market pointing out and identifying all the spices, herbs, fruits and vegetables that are unique to Vietnamese cuisine. We also toured through the wet market viewing all the seafood and meats….so interesting! Once back to the culinary school we prepared 3 dishes including fresh rolls made with shrimp and pork and fresh herbs and vegetables with a delicious dipping sauce, then thin crispy Vietnamese fried pancakes as well as a tasty carmelized pork cooked in a clay pot. We sat down to enjoy our meal with a pitcher of cold jasmine tea. Dung was an excellent teacher and attentive to the details of each of our dishes. She also showed us how to eat our food using the herbs and lettuce grew and sauces. I would recommend this cooking school. It was clean and bright and everyone who worked there was so friendly. I liked it so much, I went back the next day for a Vietnamese coffee making class with An. A was also so friendly and outgoing and also an excellent teacher. We made 4 kinds of coffee and they were each unique and delicious. I learned so much and now know what to order everyday in the numerous cafes and coffee houses we have gone to everyday since arriving in this beautiful country. I loved my coffee making class! An and Dung were both lovely and proved again that it’s the people you meet that truly make a trip a great experience.
