I have taken many food tours and cooking classes, and this was my absolute favorite ever! The entire experience is very special. The class started with a tour of a very local market and was held in Natalia’s beautiful home. The day finished with us enjoying the best salsas I’ve ever tasted in my life. Thank you for a magical day!
The cooking class with Natalia was great! We really enjoyed going to the market first and she explained what and how to choose the ingredients. The burritos tasted amazing. I would definitely recommend the cooking class to everyone who enjoys cooking.
Natalia was an excellent instructor. We walked through the market place, and she talked about how to pick up the best vegetables. She encouraged me to speak Spanish since I need the practice. Her kitchen is not far from the market maybe about 5 minutes. She was warm and friendly to talk to and clear on what we should be doing at any given time. The tasks were organized. She clearly had taught before. She informed us of the history of the burrito. The burrito was excellent. She precooked the beef to speed things along, but we made fresh guacamole, cut up the vegetables and tortillas from scratch. There was so much food! We only were able to eat one burrito each, but made three tortillas. She wanted to send us home with the rest, but unfortunately our hotel didn't have any way of storing and reheating the ingredients. We were given the instructions in a PDF, so we could replicate the burrito at home. This was my favorite cooking class that I have taken! So glad I found this class.
I spent a really enjoyable afternoon learning how to cook burritos. Natalia was a patient teacher and great fun. I highly recommend this class.
Had a great time making burritos with Natalya! She had a lovely kitchen and was a great host. She was patient and very helpful and steered the group to make some delicious burritos. The neighborhood has a reputation and certainly not the best part of the city but Natalya made you feel completely comfortable right away, which enhanced the experience even more. Would definitely recommend as an experience!
The group was small and very fun. I learned a lot. The class and teacher was so welcoming and everything was in a familiar atmosphere and really delicious.
Natalia is such a great and sweet host. My 9 year old son and I had a lot of fun cooking the delicious food. The recipes are plant based, but Natalia had no issues adding a chicken recipe for my son, who is very picky with vegetables. It was also a lot of fun to experience a local market where you can buy everything from clothing to chicken and even get your nails or hair done. All in all an amazing experience away from the hustle and bustle of tourist buses and tourist spots.
Natalia was a wonderful instructor! She was extremely kind and accommodating to our group of 7, welcoming us into her home - "mi casa es su casa." We started the class with a tour of the market and quick history lesson, where she answered all of our questions (cooking related and otherwise!). Her relationship with the workers there was invaluable, as it gave us the opportunity to ask them questions about their produce, as well. From there, we went back to her home where she each gave us a fun apron and workspace. We started off by making homemade tortillas. She taught us what the dough should look and feel like, and some changes we could make when we make them in the future. She brought us into her kitchen to make the refried beans, cook the tortillas, and make the salsa! It wasn't just show and tell, she did an excellent job having all seven of us participate. Everything was delicious and I will definitely be making the recipes back home - this class was one of the highlights of our trip, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Mexico City!
This was a delicious experience! My friend and I did the class together and started with a market tour. We didn't just watch the teacher pick up ingredients but rather we were taught about the different peppers and items needed and we helped choose what would be best. The homemade tortillas were so fun to make and I can totally see myself recreating these dishes at home! Two words: Salsa Macha. Ooooh sooooo gooood
Highly recommend! Natalia was an excellent instructor and host! She introduced us to Mexican culture, different foods, educated us on history and welcomed us into her home. First she took us on a tour of the market and showed us all the kind of spices we could use, she showed us how to pick the best kinds and to judge the ripeness of fruits. She then brought us back to her darling home and had prepared a cooking station for us to work. She was well organized, articulate and patient. She encouraged us and made cooking so fun! Natalia is kind and friendly. We would definitely take a class with Natalia again. She shared so much of her passion for cooking and inspired us! Natalia's class would be fantastic for a large girl's group cooking class, a couple's cooking class or an individual cooking class. Natalia is versatile and great conversationalist. We were so happy to make a friend! You will not regret taking Natalia's class- Cheers!
I am a mexican women with a life time passion for food, specially hot & spicy. I have had the opportunity to live around Mexico from north to south, that is how I got my salsa recepies. I love cooking at home & sharing a great meal. I believe food brings people together & it goes beyond langages.
When traveling, always visit the local market, its where you find the real flavor & culture, is an opportunity to interact with locals & an excuse for amazing pitures!
